Spain will finally have a government after weeks of haggling. 

Socialist leader Pedro Sánchez has clinched a vote in parliament to lead Spain for another term as prime minister. 

Spain's Socialist acting prime minister Sanchez has secured a majority in the 350-seat chamber, after sealing an amnesty deal for Catalans involved in a failed bid to secede from Spain in 2017. The amnesty deal gave the Socialists the numbers they need.

In all, 179 lawmakers backed Sánchez.

Pedro Sánchez won the backing of a majority of lawmakers in Spain’s parliament to form a new government. 

Although the conservative Popular Party won July elections but leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo was unable to form a majority.

Sánchez has led Spain since 2018.
