Education without values, is useful or a complete waste.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The above quote sums up the cardinal importance of the education in a person’s life. And when the word value adds with education, it becomes more vital. Education without values, is a complete waste. Values are more vital, value makes the reputation of a person in a society. Education alone cannot create great personalities but when it is accompanied by values than the results could be miraculous. Educated were Osama Bin Laden, Gaddafi, educated is Abu Bakr Bagdadi but what is the use of that education which is loathsome to humanity. And uneducated was Akbar, in whose reign his subjects had enjoyed full religious freedom because of his values. Values also reflect the character of a person and his ideology. Education and values both can make a nation great. But in today’s mundane world, are we attaining the education which has some values? For me its answer is “no”. Today education has just become a tool of earning money as much as possible. Coaching institutions just charge high fees from the students and students pay it for just getting some kind employment in future. By imparting such education for the lure of money is only perilous to our society and by attaining such education only the literacy rate is increasing but human values are on decline. The incidents which we face in our daily life like younger generation is not giving time to their parents or grandparents are the result of lack of values in education. This kind of only education promises us to get jobs but denies us to spend times with some of ours.
Education was that which was imparted in the universities of Nalanda and Takshila which in the past had attracted many foreign students to its campus and it would certainly had been because of its values with education. The education with values was that when eklavya was ready to cut off his thumb from hands on the demand of his guru.
Education with values teaches us the way of living a life. Educated were Gandhi and Abdul Kalam and educated are today’s leaders. The former personalities life was full of values one has worked for nation’s freedom and one has inspired many generations by his works and the later ones are just fond of throwing shoes on each other, this reflects the importance of values in an individual’s life.
Acquiring education without values means we are just transferring humanity and generations from darkness to gloominess but by attaining education with values means taking generations out of darkness to a prosperous world.
Those were values which forced Gandhi to fight against untouchability, forced Mandela to raise against racism, and galvanized Bhagat Singh to lay down his life for his nation.
In today’s society people are educated but practice untouchability, promote racism and younger generation is just confined to the pleasure of life and do not concern for nation, these all are results of lack of values in education.
Education with values can only dispel the ignorance and work for the sake of humanity and this type of education can only be attained in a society “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where the knowledge is free…….”.
